Principal's Message
We did it! We got through 2021 and are so excited we are able to showcase our students today.
We look forward to giving our students a sense of achievement and purpose and hope our show puts a sparkle into the end of a long and challenging year.
Students and teachers pulled the show together in under 8 weeks and despite it not being polished and perfect like other years, we are proud of what we have achieved in such a small amount of time.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of Kings and Queens of Rock, Pop & Roll.

MEET OUR 2020 EXCELLENCE AWARD RECIPIENTS
CATIE BROADBENT
Catie has been dancing with Dare to Shine since she was six years old where she did ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary. She was part of the performance team for many years and tried all the classes she could possibly try but eventually, decided to pursue her love of ballet. Catie would like to thank all her teachers over the years for continuing to push and encourage her and always making dance fun.
REBECCA MCKIERNAN
Rebecca started dancing with Dare to Shine at the age of 3 and is now 16. She has been a member of the Performance Troupe for many years and was awarded the Junior Perpetual Trophy in 2014. She was very excited to also add the Senior Perpetual Trophy last year and is currently studying accelerated HSC Dance.
KARISSA GOUROS
Karissa was snuck into her first dance class at 2.5 years of age and hasn't looked back. She participates in all dance styles, acting and singing classes, acrobatic classes and enjoys pushing herself to constantly improve. Karissa successfully auditioned for The McDonald College of the Performing Arts and has completed year 7 this year. She was super excited to win the Junior Perpetual Trophy last year and aims to one day follow in Rebecca's footsteps and also earn the Senior Perpetual Trophy.
ZARA FROUSALIAS
At the age of 3, Zara refused to try a dance class and a year later joined dance classes at Dare to Shine and absolutely hated dance for the first year. Now 8 years later she lives and breathes dance and absolutely loves it. Zara dances in all styles, is a member of the performance team and also attends acting and singing classes. She is passionate about the performing arts and being the best she can be. Zara was also fortunate to have been selected for NSW Primary School State Dance Ensemble. She will be starting high school next year and has successfully auditioned for and been accepted into the Australian Performing Arts Grammar School.

YEAR 12 GRADUATING STUDENTS 2022
CATIE BROADBENT
Catie is moving to Bathurst to study a Bachelor of Paramedicine at Charles Sturt University where she will begin hunting for a studio to continue dancing.
STELLA HAYDON-SMITH
Stella has graduated year 12 this year from Tempe High School and intends to do a gap year before starting University in 2023. She has currently been accepted into a degree of health science at UTS and psychological science/social science at the University of Newcastle. She intends to continue dancing casually with Dare to Shine into next year.
CHARLIZE MARQUES
Charlize began her dancing, singing, and acting journey at Dare to Shine in 2010 at the age of six, and since then, has competed competitively with both her dancing and singing for a number of years. She has just graduated from St Ursula's College and intends to complete a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science/ Bachelor of International Studies at UTS in 2022.
BROOKE PANTO
Brooke is planning to study a Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery and continue to
assist with teaching dance to upcoming Dare to Shine stars.
MIA HAMILTON
Mia began as a hip hop student and slowly transitioned to performance stream and ballet. She successfully auditioned for Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and developed a passion for ballet and contemporary. Mia was successful in gaining a place in Sydney Dance Company's prestigious pre professional year and will be pursuing this opportunity next year.
